Of Novels and Novella
This post is about two things. First I'm wishing Irens good luck this weekend. She has taken on the challenging task of writing a novel in 36 hours. So far it's going ok I'm told.
Secondly it's a test of posting to this blog via the wordpress iPhone app.
Oh and Tuesday (the first day of school unfortunately) also marks 8 official years for Irens and I.
Resolutions (the New Year’s variety)
I've given up on new years resolutions for the most part. I have het to actually succeed at any of these so-called promises. They always end up in the dustbin of history, so to speak. So instead I am making a couple of promises to myself. Now, since I actually made these promises about a month ago, they are NOT new year's resolutions (or so I'm telling myself). So here goes:
- I promise to actually blog steadily. I've gone though all this work to create this site, I really should use it. I'd love some advice though on how to get people to actually go to the site. Also, UrbanPix.ca started off good but I've let it slide - I will not do that again!
- I promise to have greater self-respect. This means - dressing better, ironing my clothes, going swimming/to the gym, eating better, going to the dentist/doctor (yes I have a irrational fear of dentists) etc.
That's it for now. So, I'll be at Irena's parents' place for New Years (exciting eh?) and I'll see everyone when I get back.

Themes a Plenty
Despite a recent change in themes, I'm still not happy. This theme looks amazing, but there is no way to effectively alter the top image. It's just the way its placed up there. Which is really too bad since I love the drop-down menus. Anyway, if the look changes, don't worry, its just me trying out new themes.
Website Troubles
Well this local hosting thing isn't going great yet. I'm using www.dyndns.com to provide my DNS services, since Sympatico gives me a dynamic IP. Problem is that my router isn't updating my IP enough. I obviously need a software solution. On top of that, I thought everything was working, but what do I find? My Linux machine (my server) had reset itself for some reason, so Apache wasn't working. Anyway, hiccups are bound to happen I guess. The page is back up, so enjoy 
Success – Now Locally Hosted :) (and with more pzaaz)
So, this website is now officially hosted on a Linux computer in my apartment! After navigating the world of Linux and learning a hell of a lot last weekend (thanks a million Dan), I managed to get everything working. What's nice, is to know that I've been able to apply my knowledge. Today, for example, I had problems based upon the way the site is written. Luckily I learned enough about host files that I fixed it! (yes that's vague, too lazy to type the rest)
Now, on the PERL and MySQL.
The Great Stale Blog
I'm pathetic, I know.... no posts in at least one or two months. Wow, I really am pathetic. Getting back to school and September, and dealing with all those 'delightful' students, really saps your energy and your creative juices. Blogging just seemed so unimportant.... Fear not though, I will try again! A recap blog is on the way, or so I hope....
