Annex Writers Design

Annex Writers Flyer

Irena is putting together a new group to help writers connect with one another. The group, called Annex Writers can be found both on Facebook and at www.annexwriters.org All of the design work (site and above flyer) are my work so I thought I would share. If you are into writing and want to meet other writers, come out to the first event. Otherwise, I'd love to hear opinions on my design work.

Check this video out:  http://www.dutchcowboys.nl/web2dot0/12043

It's a wonderfully catchy and hilarious look at what Web 2.0 really means....  or does it really mean anything at all?

AGO – What Were They Thinking??

AGO Ad

So I saw this on the subway today and I couldn't help but shake my head. Seriously, what were the ad execs at the AGO thinking? I understand that part of the appeal of Emily Carr's paintings is the, shall we say, bleakness of the landscapes. But implying that clear-cutting is beautiful goes a little too far. Afte all, I spend entire days teaching kids in my Geography class the problems with clear cutting forests.

My Desktop

So I reached for some peace and clarity recently. Doing this meant two things:

  1. a clean and very neat desktop
  2. an empty e-mail inbox

I achieved both of these with some great new systems. For the desktop, I cleard it, picked a bright wallaper, hid the task bar and finally installed two great problems which allow me to avoid the taskbar and start menu completely:

Launchy is a great program which allows me to launch programs by typing their name
Rocket Docket is a Mac OSX style dock with lets me open major folders quickly and easily.

My desktop now looks like this:

Finally, my inbox is now empy and I did this by dropping folders by topic, rather I use three folders now: action (for things I need to do/reply to), hold (for things like instructions for an upcoming event) and finally archive (for everything else).  Works like a dream.
