Chris and Tracy’s Wedding
So it's wedding season. We've already been to one Jack and Jill (for Mark and Michelle) and still need to go to one more wedding - Melanie and Naguib's in July. Oh and Kaylan's was back in October. And of course there is still ours next year, which I am trying desperately to save for. (interestingly Chris is in my party and Melanie is in Irena's)
The topic today though is Chris and Tracy. I've known Chris since university - a very long time indeed. Even thought we don't see each other for long stretches (mostly because I don't have a car and he lives in the extremes of Mississauga), he's always been a great and dear friend. We've been through a lot including two incredibly fun political campaigns which resulted in ill-advised drives home half asleep on my part after dropping him off at him.
Tracy I know less, though every time I've met her she's been nothing but warm, relaxed and loving. What stands out most for me is the last time that Irena and I visited their place. It was one of best times I've ever had hanging out with a friend and another couple.
The wedding was incredible, the bride was gorgeous and the setting was tremendous. I can't say enough about how much fun we had and how proud I am of Chris and happy I am for the couple. Truthfully, years ago I never thought this would work out, but seeing them yesterday and the last few years, I'm delighted that they are now one. Congratulations!
Below are a few pics I took last night. Admittedly they aren't that great, but I think there are a few nice ones.
New York Coming Soon
Sorry about the delay on a NYC recap. I had to head to Burlington after coming home from New York to help out Irena's family. I'll be here for the week. Actually I'm writing this on the GO Train on my way back to Burlington. \n\nPlease never let me move out to some 905 suburb ever!
New York City Map
Irena and I are headed by NYC on Sunday night by bus. Yes, by bus. It's dirt cheap $25 per person per direction, but it is a LONG trip - 9.5 hours long. But I'm really looking forward to it. I made a Google Map of the locations we want to visit, so I thought I would share.

Of Novels and Novella
This post is about two things. First I'm wishing Irens good luck this weekend. She has taken on the challenging task of writing a novel in 36 hours. So far it's going ok I'm told.
Secondly it's a test of posting to this blog via the wordpress iPhone app.
Oh and Tuesday (the first day of school unfortunately) also marks 8 official years for Irens and I.
Balcony BBQ
So, a brief update - Irena and I held a BBQ on our newly reclaimed balcony this past Friday night. We managed to clean it and the netting is doing its job
 Here are some photos!
Looking for Fellow Velocipidists
So with the warmer weather, I'm finally able to take out my bicycle and enjoy the city. Ever since moving downtown, I've found a new love of cycling, and this includes commuting by bike and pleasure cycling.
Pleasure biking, however, is always more fun in groups. So, I'm hoping to find some people out there who would be interested in joining me for some semi-regular rides. If you are interested in getting out on your bike (Note for Chris - I mean the human-powered variety) and exploring the city, please let me know, I'd love to join you for some fun.
Exhausted and Overwhelmed
Sorry for the lack of blogging recently. I've been utterly exhausted and overwhelmed since coming home from Europe this past week. Besides catching up on my life again, I have 1800 pictures to go through. As soon as I have some to post I'll let everyone know.
Home at Last
I'm home again! The trip was amazing and the students were excellent. We only had very minor problems - the most serious one being a lost passport on the way home. I'll blog more about the trip later once I'm not so jetlagged....
Leaving on a jet plane….
So I'm off to Europe again! This time with 40 students in tow. While I'm not sure if this is going to be a good or bad experience, it is a free experience!
Anyway, where am I going? Well let me tell you (in order):
- 10pm flight to Frankfurt and thne a 4 hour layover and a 1 hour flight to Paris to arrive in Paris for 5pm
- Wander Paris for a day
- Dieppe
- normandy (Juno Beach)
- Somme
- Arras
- Ypres
- Brussels
- Waerloo
- Hague
- Amsterdam
As you can see it is very much a history based trip with visitis to many famous battlefields. I'll be snapping pictures like crazy and will begin posting them when I get back. Unfortunately I'm not bring along a computer so I'll largely be out of touch. I'm back next Thursday (13th) at around 8pm. See everyone then.
